A temptation that surrounds close to half a million souls with its synergy of music and entertainment. This is some explanation of the vibrant Sunburn festival held in India every year. Inspired by the ‘Tomorrowland Music Festival’ of Belgium, Sunburn became the synonym of music festivals.

Story so far

Sunburn made its debut from the Candolim beach of Goa in 2007. The decision to organize this international dance music festival was jointly taken by DJ Nikhil Chinappa and the Percept group. In its very first year, international artists like Carl Cox, Above & Beyond and Axwell made the headlines. The debut festival was hosted by DJ Nikhil Chinappa and Rohit Baker.

Despite the terrifying 2008 Mumbai attacks, Sunburn marked its second innings, the very next month of the incident. With the same spirit and enthusiasm, the festival was held on the Candolim beach. In the theme of Electric circus, the festival lived up to its expectations. Performances of DJ Simon Dunmore, Shapeshifters and Gareth Emery enlightened the crowd with trance and house music.

Due to the increase in turnout of the crowd every year, Sunburn improvised itself and made teeny weeny changes in its schedules and events from time to time. The year of 2009 brought the concept of ‘After Dark’ parties, thereby loosing all time boundaries and making Sunburn a 24 hour festival.
Change in venue happened in the seventh edition of the Sunburn in the year 2013 when the organizers decided to conduct the festival at Vagator beach in Goa. This did not affect the appeal of the Sunburn at all and instead, the festival got packed with 120 artists running a marathon of music.

Stunned by the huge difference Sunburn created since its inception in 2007, the organizers decided to launch the city edition in the summer of 2012. This started from Mumbai and later on made its way to Noida in Delhi and Colombo in Sri Lanka by October 2012.

Sunburn-a magical carnival

The three day festival of the Sunburn is no less than a carnival. Electrifying performances of the talents from different corners of world on stages so massive just set the magic on. Every year the festival treats its lovers with a whole new theme, followed by the ambiance and the madness that seems to fall from a different dimension.

A music festival of such potential feels incomplete without the delicious cuisines and a hell lot of drinks. This desperate need has been very well taken care of in the Sunburn, as the festival is flooded by various stalls offering sumptuous food and pitchers of Booze. Delicious Goan cuisines with alcoholic beverages in the musical atmosphere of Sunburn tempts the people to stay here forever.

The magnetism of the Sunburn festival is such that most of the tourists set their camps on the site. This is an amazing way to live down the festival and savor its memories for the next year.

After Parties

‘Under  the sun, We party, and in the dark, We party harder’. This is one true motto of the Sunburn festival.  The organizers here make sure that no single moment spent at the festival is left untouched by the party spirit. For this, suitable venue is selected for the themed After Night parties. This includes cruise parties also along the beach. It keeps the rhythm of the festival going on and after an entertainment cum madness filled day at the festival, cruise parties bring the necessary comfort.
